2010 / De-Reaction
"No screen actor can claim to have mastered his art until he has complete control over all his actions." -Edward Dmytryk
Actors are trained to control their outward reactions and emotion. Eye closing and jumping are normal responses to sudden movement or sound. In De-Reaction, I asked an actor to not allow herself to react to a loud sound. Throughout the video, the actor learns to control how her body reacts, despite the response being innate.
